Banya Number 1 - I’m missing the Russian baths and having the parenie. I actually had one of these in Russia and it’s just as good in Hoxton. My favorite things on the menu are their scallops, french fries and mushrooms. You have to make a reservation about a month in advance to get a good table though. Le Grand Cafe - Chic and stylish French restaurant located at the Grand Palais. During the day you have the beautiful views at the terrasse and in the evening a dining room with dimmed lights and a live jazz band playing. I recommend trying their dessert menu. Tekes- Vegetarian restaurant serving updated dishes from Israel. My favorites on the menu are the laffa bread, the perakh ashkunot and of course the chocolate mousse for dessert. I recommend going there for lunch. Waly Fay - My favorite West-African restaurant in the city. I always order the same thing here: fried plantain as a starter and ndolé with shrimp for the main course. It's a comfort food kind of place. Poulette - A French bistro with a consistently good menu. White - A take away café located in le Marais. When the weather is nice I like to get a latte from White to take to Place des Vosges park which is just around the corner, where I like to read on Sundays. Kura-ge - They make a really good matcha, also located in le Marais. Musée Rodin - In my opinion it’s the most beautiful museum in Paris. I love revisiting this one. Rue du Seine - I get a latte and walk along this street which is full of small galleries, popping into the ones that have objects that catch my eye in the display windows. Cinnamon rolls that are made the right way (dry with only cinnamon as the filling) are very hard to find outside of Scandinavia, but this bakery does a great job. There’s usually a queue so be prepared to wait. Land & Monkey's - When I’m in the mood for bread I get my sourdough loaf from there. It’s a perfect date spot! Pepite - Good for small dishes and a good drinks menu including mocktails for those of us who don’t drink. Martin - Located on Boulevard du Temple, this is one of the spots that locals go to. It’s very lowkey and very Parisian. I spend a lot of time here. Hotel Balzac - A very beautiful hotel in the 8th Arrondissement that has been decorated with really great taste. Madame Rêve - This one is great for staycations and a spa break in the city. It’s brand new and sits on our favourite beach in Dubai which is part of the natural coastline. It’s high on our list, especially because some great new restaurants like Kira. Atlantis The Royal - We love doing staycations here because you really don’t need to leave the resort, it houses great restaurants and stores, its ultra luxy so you feel spoiled the whole time and the spa is so, so good. The Lana - It’s a great option if you want more of a city vibe and want to be close to all the action downtown. Bulgari Resort Dubai - I think we both agree that this is our favourite hotel. Anytime we want a spa day, we book it here. The rooms are impeccable and we love coming from breakfast and lunch even when we’re not guests of the hotel. Jumeirah Al Naseem - We’ve never stayed here but we always recommend it to friends visiting, especially those with kids. The music is always good and it’s always packed with good energy. Honeycomb Hi-Fi - Honeycomb is always voted as a no.1 spot by Time Out, The speakersystem is great, the dj’s they have are always good and it’s a firm favourite in Dubai’s nightlife scene. If you go for dinner, make it a late reservation so you can stay for drinks and enjoy the party vibe. LPM Restaurant & Bar – A classic for the food, but the bar is also always so fun. We’ve never not had a good night here. The Maine – Also a good offering for drinks and good vibes. The duck has to be ordered 24 hours before your reservation, just FYI! Kinoya – We love this place! Hands down the best Ramen in Dubai and the rest of the menu is also delicious. Flamingo Room by Tashas – Another one by Tashas that we can’t stay away from, the decor is gorgeous. We love going to tAsha’s for casual lunch, it’s been our go-to for the longest time. Kokoro – This place needs a shoutout. So delicious and the concept is so simple. A handroll bar with little else on the menu. They don’t take reservations so go with the expectation of waiting a little for the table. Mama’esh – We love this place for easy weekend breakfasts or lunch. Delicious Palestinian food. The Grey – We’re always here. We love the avo toast. It’s located right next to our office, so we’re always grabbing a matcha from here and doing our best to stay away from the croissants. Pekoe (Alserkal Avenue) –They are known for their breads and their pastries are delicious. Also located in one of our favourite areas to walk around. BKRY (Alserkal Avenue) – A pastry lover’s dream; the open kitchen means you can watch the chefs at work. Amongst Few Café – A fully vegan and vegetarian-friendly café with a really addictive version of a ‘Snickers’ bar. Matcha Club – We always recommend this place because it’s like a little haven in the city. Breakfast time is always packed and they have really pretty padel courts and yoga studios. The ultimate Sunday would be one spent in Granada. As a family, it’s our home away from home in the colourful Albaicín neighbourhood with such a thriving atmosphere. As women, we often carry the weight of societal expectations, striving to fulfil numerous roles while maintaining an image of perfection. If I could advise my younger self, I would emphasise the importance of self-compassion and releasing the pressure to meet unrealistic standards. It's crucial to recognise that each journey is unique, and comparison only undermines our sense of self-worth. Instead, I would encourage myself to appreciate the beauty of my own path, celebrating victories, embracing setbacks, and savouring every moment along the way. Absolutely everywhere. I have a pin board in my studio that’s filled with old family photos, my children’s drawings, tearings from magazines of prints and embroideries I like; it’s become a visual tapestry of creativity and nostalgia. I travel to Paris for a fabric expo each year and come back with books filled with samples and colour palettes. A lot of our inspiration comes from client feedback too, we have a number of core silhouettes, our ‘icons’ so to speak, that we evolve each season based on the honest insights we receive.
